SWAGGER

A few weeks ago I got a call from Mike. He was in Tokyo, I was in Utah. He said that I needed a new car and I was getting a MINIVAN. I admit that I was horrified and tried my best to persuade him that I did not in fact need or want a minivan. I pulled out all the stops and used every emotional argument I could come up with. Most of them were a load of crap, but I was determined to touch on every reason for not needing a van. I hung up the phone feeling defeated and a little bugged that I was getting a new car, but did not get a choice in the matter. Oh wait, I did get a choice...I could pick between the Honda or the Toyota.

A few days later Mike came back here from Japan and arranged the purchase of my new ride. Mike was scheduled to leave a couple days later to return to Tokyo so the new car would be delivered to the house. I had resigned myself at this point and knew there was no getting out of it...I was a minivan mom. I felt a little crushed and sad that I would have to give Big Precious to Mike and name a new car.

Two nights before Mike was leaving for Tokyo we went out to celebrate our anniversary. We went to Salt Lake and had dinner and Mike had arranged for me to get a massage at the Grand America. As a side note, it was amazing. I highly recommend it. Anyway, back to the story...Mike shows up at the hotel after my massage in my sparkly white new swagger wagon. She has that new car smell, and gleam. There are buttons for everything. In fact, I am pretty sure you could drive her without any hands just a couple fingers. The doors open and close themselves, the seats recline into flat beds, there is a camera for backing(this feature makes me a little nervous!). It is crazy what designers have come up with. Yes, I chose the Toyota, and have since become a proud owner. I am a minivan mom--at least for the time being!
